buffer overflow

man, what a weekend (blending into week)...
we went to portland this weekend to sneak in some time with homies before a weekend with family (apologies family, but we're certain you understand). we stayed at the world-famous jarrett reynolds' house and enjoyed both his and andi's hospitality to the fullest. SO many trees in portland. i've been there before, several times, but i really noticed the trees this time. probably because j's house is up on a hill, surrounded by forest. it's super beautiful.

saturday we, of course, shopped (it's the american way) but in the evening attended a veritable clash of titans, the roller derby! it was bonkers, my favorite team was the heartless heathers, even before they blew out guns n rollers in the second round. vominatrix and sump pump aer teh r0xx0rz!!!!1!!11!1!!1one!!

sunday was thrift store mining day, so i just followed everyone around and played my psp occasionally. steph found some rad stuff, as per usual. sunday evening, however, we were treated to a virtuouso cooking performance by the man of the house, delivering antipasta, pasta and chicken in a cream sauce unto our bellies from scratch! bellisimo! somehow andi had wrangled a chef into giving our boy private cooking lessons on the weekends, certainly a gift that keeps on giving if ever there was one. if that wasn't enough, j-rock then gifted to george and i some splits, which we divided amongst ourselves. one was a yellow windrunner, the half of which i claimed is destined to be combined with my green windrunner for maximum oakland A's fanboy effect.

thus ended the weekend, quickly fading into the work week... a work week in which productivity was severely adversely effected by certain events transpiring in los angeles, california. namely, the electronic entertainment expo. my head is still spinning from the flurry of announcements from Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft, but this much i can tell you right now: i am utterly consumed by the announcement of Halo 3, super freaking excited about the potential for Live Anywhere, really stoked to get a Nintendo Wii and still fairly interested in getting the playstation 3 even if it does cost an arm and a leg...

all the E3 junk vaulted 2 things to the very tippy-top of my dream wishlist: the Sony KDS-R50XBR1 and a MacBook Pro. obviously, a 50" HD TV will be necessary for fully enjoying these gaming marvels and if the MacBook can dualboot Vista (as it has already done with XP) then i will basically never speak directly to another human being again. i will chat with them via Live Anywhere (from laptop OR xbox 360) during breaks in the television programming i am viewing on my PSP via the Location Free technology built-in to the playstation 3. sheesh. i kinda wish i could just plug it all directly into my head... here ends the technology maelstrom (and the rapidfire stream-of-consciousness typing).

in actual daily, human life news (filed under Ego Boosting Events) i was whistled at and cat-called by a group of high school-aged girls as i walked back to the office from lunch today. although very flattering, i found the whole thing a little awkward. a guy my age can't really acknowledge that sort of attention without seeming like a total creep. i would have liked to let them know i appreciated the compliment (as such) but i think i did a good job of acting oblivious.
