Flashy light...nuther essential for bike commuters. Mine has 5 different flash patterns and snaps on off so I can take it w/ me. You might seriously consider a reflective bib and front light as well because the streets you ride have much less visibility than mine. Do you where a helmet? I read a story about a woman who did cross country bike rides to raise awareness for brain injury sufferers just before finishing her latest, she got hit by an suv, w/out helmet and died instantly from a head injury.
